For the relief of migraine pain
Could this procedure be right for you?
- If you have severe migraine headaches that have been evaluated and diagnosed by a physician specializing in migraine headaches (typically a neurologist).
- If your headaches are associated with “trigger sites” on your head or face where the headaches typically start or localize.
- If you have a significant amount of headache improvement after treatment with a neuromodulator medication such as Botox®.
Intended Result
- Most patients experience a significant decrease in the frequency and severity of their migraine headaches. Some patients may have complete resolution of their headaches.
Procedure Description
- Once the “trigger sites” are identified, the nerves responsible for the headaches are found through a small incision in the skin. The nerves are then cut and the incisions are closed.
Recuperation and Healing
- Recovery is fast and most patients are able to resume their normal activities within a few days.
Other Options For Your Consideration
Before considering surgery for your migraine headaches, you will need an evaluation by a physician who specializes in nonsurgical treatment of migraine headaches.
