Procedure Description

• The specific procedure depends on the extent of improvement desired and the amount of the ear that is deformed or missing.
• In more simple cases, skin and cartilage of the ear is rearranged to improve the appearance of your ear.
• In more complex cases, cartilage may be taken from your ribs, and skin may be used from other parts of your body to reshape your ear.

Recuperation and Healing

• Most discomfort is gone within a few days and you may return to regular activity within two weeks. Swelling and bruising may take longer to resolve.

Other Options For Your Consideration

For some patients, a man made ear prosthesis (artificial ear) may be a better option than surgery.
