The NorthShore Plastic Surgery Center now offers the most advanced surgical hair restoration services. We offer hair restoration for both cosmetic (male and female pattern baldness) and reconstructive (including eyebrows) patients. These procedures are done using local anesthetic in a comfortable office setting at our state-of-the-art facility in Northbrook, Illinois.
Hair restoration involves taking very small follicular unit hair grafts from an area of hair-bearing skin and implanting them into an area of hair loss to provide a natural healthy appearance. Surgical hair restoration surgery results in natural permanent hair growth and stays with the patient for life.
State-of-the-Art Techniques
We use the most up to date technology for our surgical hair restoration procedures. These include both strip harvest and follicular unit extraction (FUE) and then hair units are transferred using follicular unit transplantation (FUT). Our highly qualified technicians are some of the best in the country and most importantly, your hair restoration surgery will be done by our board certified plastic surgeon, who has unique training in plastic surgery, facial plastic surgery, and hair restoration. Unlike most facilities where hair transplants are done almost entirely by technicians, our physician will be involved in every step of the process, including transplantation.

Please allow 4-6 weeks for scheduling surgery from the date of your consultation.
The Hair Restoration Procedure
Your procedure will be performed under local anesthetic (plus some mild sedative pills if you desire) in our leading-edge surgical facility. You will be comfortable during your procedure and may watch a movie, listen to an iPod, or sleep if you choose. Your procedure will take between 2-6 hours depending on the surgical plan that you have developed with your surgeon. When you surgical procedure is finished, you will be given care instructions and be discharged home on the same day.
Recovery
Recovery from hair restoration surgery is quite straightforward. You should expect some swelling and will need to take it easy for a few days. Beyond that, you can start to get back to your usual routine. The transplanted hairs will take a few months to start growing, and the full result will be seen at one year. Most patients can expect that more than one treatment session will be needed for the best result.
