Stephanie has been practicing medical skin treatments under the direction of a plastic surgeon since 2004. She provides non-surgical, image enhancing skin rejuvenation, including chemical peels, microdermabrasion and laser services—in a calming and relaxing spa atmosphere. Stephanie makes every effort to be a leader in her industry by attending educational seminars as a member of the Society of Plastic Surgical Skin Care Specialists. Her passion for skin, soothing touch and refined skills provide artistic outcomes that pamper and impress her loyal patients. Her goal is to enhance your skin health, confidence and overall quality—inside and out.
Mim Tournell, RN, BSN
Miriam (Mim) Tournell has an extensive and varied professional nursing background that uniquely qualifies her as a nurse specialist in plastic surgery. Her experience includes pediatric critical care as well as pre- and post-operative care of pediatric patients in an ambulatory care setting. Mim’s skills, providing care for pediatric plastic surgery patients, have been developed under the direction of Dr. Bruce Bauer. His professional excellence has contributed to her continued growth and development as a member of a team providing care for children and families with unique challenges. Mim received her BSN from North Park University and has additional accreditation as a Certified Pediatric Nurse.
Laurie Farrell, PA-C
Laurie Farrell, PA-C, has been a fully licensed and certified Physician Assistant within the Northshore University HealthSystem for 13 years. She worked with a team of Surgical Oncologists for nearly nine years before making the transition to Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery. It was a natural progression. During the early portion of her career, she was privileged to participate in the process of providing hope for cure. Now, she is privileged to participate in the transformative processes of restoration and rejuvenation! Her roles in your care are to provide skillful assistance to the surgeon during many procedures and attending to your needs should your surgery require a stay hospital stay. Laurie’s background in general surgery provides solid experience for excellent patient care under the supervision of our team of academic plastic surgeons. In addition, she is available to answer questions and reassure you or family members when needed. She recognizes each patient is unique in how they will experience surgery and wants your experience to be exceptional.
Emil Orpilla PA-C, MMSc
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Physician Assistant
Emil Orpilla PA-C, MMSc is a Board Certified Physician Assistant. He received his Bachelor’s in Biological Sciences from Northeastern Illinois University, and his Master’s in Medical Science from Saint Francis University. Emil has extensive experience in the care of surgical patients. As a Physician Assistant, you will find Emil acting as an extension of your surgeon in the Division of Plastic Surgery, providing care for patients in the hospital, operating room and clinic. He has a great deal of patient experience and has a broad medical background, providing the same exemplary quality of care as his supervising physicians. His caring and compassionate bedside manner, along with thorough medical care, is a great asset to our team. In addition to his work, Emil also acts as a clinical preceptor for Physician Assistant students, participates in research projects with his attending physicians, and partakes in yearly clinical medical education in both general medicine and Plastic/Reconstructive surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) and Association of Plastic Surgery Physician Assistants (APSPA).
